Snetterton 5k April 2021

We knew it would be windy at the Snetterton race track. We could blame Matt Stone. Wherever he races it always seems to be blustery. The lads were a bit dubious about racing for the first time in over a year and were certainly glad to get this one out of the way. Simon Partridge 16.54 8th overall and 5th in his category…

Athletics Norfolk 3000m & 1500m October 2020

It wasn’t exactly ideal conditions, especially with a gale force wind down the home straight, but it didn’t stop all our members having great runs. Billy Eccles celebrated his 13th birthday with a 1500m personal best time of 5.30.9.  Paul Ward, Matthew Crane and Greg Howard were up against each other in the same race and all running the 3000m distance for the first…

Bedford Aerodrome 10k

Michael Eccles had a superb run at the Bedford Aerodrome 10k. He finished 2nd overall and first V40. This time puts him 4th in the UK…

Coniston Trail & Lake Dorney Marathons

There were excellent results today from both Jeremy Rogers and Colin Robilliard in their respective marathons. At Lake Dorney, on a very wet and windy course, Jeremy ran an excellent diamond standard time of 2:54:56. This gives him the club M45+ age record. Colin, in the tough Coniston trail marathon and in equally bad weather conditions, finished first MVet 60…

Mad March Hare 2020

Not the best of conditions out on the airfield today. At some points the runners were getting stopped dead in their tracks by the strong winds. I think the wind added at least 2 or 3 minutes to their times. Scott Walford was 1st overall in 34.50 and well over a minute ahead of the second runner. It didn’t make up for his…

Cambridge Half Marathon 2020

Simon Partridge, recovering from a few months of injury, decided to run the Cambridge Half Marathon and with no expectations although secretly he wanted to run 1.20 and did just that finishing in 1.19.33. He’s now determined to knuckle down and get back to his best and, hopefully, quicker too. Simon Bales, who is in training for the Manchester Marathon,…

Winchester 10k & Tarpley 20 miles

Both races were run under hard conditions with heavy rain and strong winds. Winchester 10k This is one race that Michael Eccles will want to forget about. Not only were the first 100 runners sent the wrong way but the ‘k’ markers were also in the wrong place. Michael went through 5k in 16.30 feeling comfortable and on for the…
