22 BVH’ers were on the start line of ‘The Wroxham 5k’ and 22 finished although a couple did come limping in. But at least they finished.
Sam Coyne and Scott Walford, considering their hard track race on Sunday, had excellent runs. Sam took 21 seconds off his pb to run 16.25. and Scott, in his first 5k for the club and nursing an injury, won the 3rd V45 trophy in 17.07. Matt Stone improved on his age pb running 18.05 and Ian Jermy, in his first 5k race for the club, ran 18.26. Matthew Crane in his recent new age group ran 19.34 and Kevin Snelling, after a long spell of injury, ran his first race for the club to finish in 21.01.
It was lovely to see Simon Mortlock back in club colours again and, after his long lay off, still ran an excellent 22.07. Arron Coe was not too far behind in 22.26.
Karyn Bray, who appears to have got over her nerves for racing, ran well to be our first lady over the line in 22.48. Dan Porter was not far behind running a pb time of 22.58. Paul Waters, who normally runs parkruns, turned out for his first road 5k finishing in 23.19 and Sarah Bird, another parkrunner, and in her first 5k road race ran 23.26. Adrian Jay, with his usual calf problem, came limping over the line is 23.32. Tara Baxter and Dad John ran together which helped Tara to a pb time of 24.21 and John 24.22. Andy Bird, yet another regular parkrunner, and also in his first 5k road race ran 27.01. Sally Porter, not too far off her pb, ran 27.22. Alexandra Haswell, in her first 5k ran 27.30 and was helped round by James Goff,who ran 27.32. Emma Cattermull was back running last night after a bit of a spell away and finished in 28.30 with Becky Saunders, still recovering from surgery not far behind in 28.51. Geoff Porter limped and almost hopped across the line with his torn calf in 30.58. Good running all – see you at the next race!!
