There were close to ideal conditions at Oxborough Hall for our 3 competitors. The wind was probably a bit too strong and created a strong headwind for the uphill miles on 7-8. The sun was out, the temperature was good for running. The course is gorgeous with quiet country lanes and tree lined scenic views of the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
Michael Eccles, 1hr 15’29.5, 2ndplace – tremendous effort by Michael who pushed and pushed. He came agonisingly close to his target time of 1hr 15 to grant qualification to next years London Marathon. He showed a lot of grit to keep off Kirk Bagge of Wymondham, in 3rd place, who at one stage drew level with Michael.
Jack Noble, 1hr 26’37.4 – his first half marathon for BVH and a PB by some 6 minutes based on his only previous half in 2012. He had good pace for the first 8 miles and with a little more training and experience, he’ll have no problems beating the magical 1’25.
Dean Hawkins, 1hr 53’59.7 – it was great to see Dean back in a BVH vest after a glute problem. After only a week of training and in his first ever half marathon, he did himself proud easily coming under the 2hr mark.
Beautiful course and good times, onwards to the Round Norfolk Relay in 2 weeks time.
