There were 11 members at our second targeted race of the year and they certainly did the club proud with a couple of trophies, 4 pb’s and 3 first timers.
Sam Coyne was 5th across the line winning the 2nd senior man’s award and just 3 seconds short of his pb in 27.40. Martin Hewetson is obviously getting over his recent illness finishing 8th overall and 1st vet 40 in a pb time 28.44. In his first race after the London Marathon, Craig Bowen-Jones finished in 31.22. Adrian Jay and Jonathan Edwards ran most of the way together with Ady just getting the better of Jon at the finish. Ady ran 35.16 and Jon, keeping up his recent good form, ran a pb time of 35.29. Arron Coe, who was running on tired legs, finished in 36.20. Sarah Jay on her way back from an illness and Becky Saunders from an operation ran 41.33 and 49.47 respectively.
The Porters certainly deserved their success last night as they always put in the hard work at training. Dan paced the race well and in his first 5 miler ran 38.46. Geoff and Sally were having a race within a race but Geoff got the better of Sally, finishing ahead in a pb time 45.14 which also helped Sally to a pb of 45.25.
