Tough conditions for this years race, as the temperature got higher everyone’s pacing started to suffer. Even the Elite runners were having a few issues! That’s the problem with the marathon – you can train hard for weeks but you can never predict the weather on the day. So, our three BVH runners should be really proud of themselves achieving the following excellent results:
Michael Eccles ran 2.28.18. 126th overall, 4th V45 (the 3rd V45 had the same time too). This is a platinum standard 45- 49 age club record and a championship entry time for next year.
Thomas Abbs…competing in his first marathon ran a gold standard and age record time of 2.55.26 which was only 3 mins short of the “London Marathon good for age entry time”.
Joanne Watkins, running without a watch and so was more relaxed which paid off, as she ran a 14 second gold standard pb time of 3.22.05 which is only 2 mins short of the club ladies record. This is also a “good for age entry time”.
Well done all.
