We had 4 County medalists at the Norfolk X/C Championships at Thetford. In the 6.8k ladies race Sabina Spence took the silver medal in the 45+ age group in 31.02. Tara Baxter, running the same distance, also won silver in the U20’s in 37.51.
In the 11k men’s race our more vintage members were also on form with Glen Nelson winning the silver medal in the 60+ age group in 49.49 and John Baxter the bronze in 51.22.
The conditions and course were rather testing to say the least but everyone ran hard and with great determination which shows in the following results :-
Ladies.
Faith Viney 6th in the senior ladies in 28.44
Sarah Jay 7th in the 50+ age group in 37.23
Men.
In the senior men’s race Sam Coyne was 12th in 40.45,
Ryan Davidson 15th in 41.23 and Simon Partridge 24th in 44.31.
In the 40-44 age category Ian Jermy finished 12th in 46.02 and Matthew Crane 23rd in 49.43.
Matt Stone was 6th in the men’s 45+ in 45.57 and Adrian Jay 18th in 52.57.
It’s a shame that, due to injury and illness, we couldn’t field our strongest teams or I’m sure we would have come away with a few more medals.
